The 20-year old Patricia Zandvoort, until recently student at Wico Campus Mater Dei in Overpelt took care of the design of this year's poster. At the moment, Patricia is studying "Stories & Design" at the ArtEZ-institute in Zwolle, The Netherlands. As principal motive for our poster, she chose the mythological bird Phoenix. The bird, that as the old Greek believed was reborn again and again, was able to give people hope and courage with its singing. His feathers had a lot of colours and his tears could heal human beings. The whole range of colours in its feathers symbolizes the large amount of countries that participate at the EMJ. As everybody knows, nobody is indifferent to singing, and each year, it gives participants as well as visitors hope and courage to join the festival in Neerpelt. And just as the Phoenix, the European Music Festival for Young People revives every year. |

For the first time the European Parliament grants the European Citizen's Award to 37 people or associations member of the European Union. And we're very proud to be one of the chosen organisations. The price will be handed out because of our 57 year-long efforts in promoting a European integration and because of our transgressing cooperation and solidarity with countries outside the EU. It certainly is an important stimulation for us and we will certainly keep on contacting youngsters from and outside the EU through their music. |

Bear Symphony on a worldtour |
During this 57th European Music Festival for Young People the organising committee plans a worldtour for its Symphony Bear. The ultimate goal is to see the bear again in two years, when the next instrumental festival will take place. The bear is dressed in a EMY-T-Shirt and a EMY-backpack. During this festival it will be handed over to the conductor of a participating group of a very distant country. If the group makes contact with another group in his homecountry, it has to pass Bear Symphony to the conductor of another group. His first trip has been announced during the proclamtion : he will be travelling to OPAVA, a musiccity in the Czech Republic. UPDATE : I even got my own Blog on this website. Great. I will keep you posted...
